The long-standing demand of BADC officers and employees was a grade review. According to those concerned, the recent issuance of an order in this regard following the Prime Minister's intervention has ended the long-standing deprivation. However, efforts to correct some errors and inconsistencies in the order are continuing.
In the past, allegations arose that orders for large-scale transfers of officers and employees were issued by exerting political influence. Later, those orders were canceled following the intervention of the Agriculture Secretary. There are also allegations that currently a few officers are trying to exert unethical influence in the organization by using the names of influential persons.
Besides, allegations have been raised against a senior official of BADC of being involved in lobbying and trading over transfers and postings instead of properly performing official duties. It has also been alleged that he is trying to exert influence in various ways to establish control over the organization.
In this situation, demands have been made to restore discipline in BADC's administrative activities, resolve the staff shortage, and expedite arrangements for the promotion of officers and employees. At the same time, emphasis has been placed on maintaining coordination between the administration and professional leadership in the interest of the organization.
According to those concerned, it is essential to keep BADC's operations dynamic in order to deliver quality seeds, fertilizer, and irrigation facilities to farmers at fair prices in time during the upcoming Boro and Rabi seasons. For this, along with ensuring administrative stability, long-standing problems need to be resolved quickly.
