Directive to remain vigilant in flight operations in Saudi Arabia
Due to disruptions in flight operations caused by the security situation at various airports in Saudi Arabia, the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport authorities have instructed airlines operating direct and transit flights to the country to remain vigilant. At the same time, they have been asked to ensure necessary assistance for passengers affected by flight delays, cancellations, or schedule changes.

On Monday night (October 12), the airport's Executive Director, Group Captain S M Ragib Samad, issued these instructions in a letter sent to the airlines concerned.

According to the instructions, if there is any change in flight schedules, passengers must be informed promptly via SMS, phone calls, email, website, and social media. In addition, clear information must be provided about the latest flight status, revised travel time, rebooking, refunds, and other arrangements.

Airlines have been asked to assist passengers facing visa extensions or immigration-related complications in communicating with the Saudi authorities, the Saudi Embassy in Dhaka, and relevant agencies. Necessary assistance must also be ensured for passengers who arrive at the airport without receiving timely information. Extra attention must be given especially to elderly people, children, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable passengers.

Each airline has been asked to appoint a responsible officer to coordinate and communicate with passengers until the situation returns to normal. The officer's name, designation, mobile number, and email address must be sent to the airport's flight management department.

Regular flights operate from Bangladesh to Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, and Medina airports in Saudi Arabia. As a result, if disruptions occur in the country's air traffic, passengers on these routes are likely to face inconvenience. In this situation, passengers have been advised to learn the latest flight information from the respective airlines before going to the airport.
