On Tuesday (October 13), the condemnation was expressed in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The release said that such treatment of internationally respected Professor Muhammad Yunus on foreign soil is highly condemnable. It appears that a group suspected of being affiliated with the banned political organization Bangladesh Awami League—such a group was behind the incident.
The Bangladesh government has expressed hope that Bangladeshi expatriates living abroad will refrain from such misconduct toward the country's respected individuals in the future.
The press release further said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed Bangladesh's mission in New York to raise the matter with local law enforcement agencies to identify those involved in the incident and take appropriate legal action against them.
According to the government, such acts undermine Bangladesh's image on the world stage and the dignity of the country's citizens. Therefore, emphasis has been placed on identifying those involved in the incident and taking action in accordance with the law.
