He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the 2026 Rukon Conference, organized by Gazipur Metropolitan Jamaat, at the Shaheed Abdul Malek Auditorium in Tongi on Friday (October 16) morning.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman alleged that the current government is not fulfilling people's expectations in implementing the referendum verdict and the July Charter. Raising allegations of politicization in the judiciary and education sectors, corruption, and irregularities in development work, he said that if the current government follows the path of the previous government, it too may have to suffer political consequences.
He said that after the change of 2024, people's expectation was to build an exploitation-free, discrimination-free and justice-based Bangladesh. The people want security, justice and a discrimination-free society.
Calling upon Rukons to follow morality, good conduct and Islamic ideals, the Jamaat Amir said that the ideal must be upheld by earning people's respect. He also called upon leaders and activists to prepare for victory in the upcoming local elections.
The conference was presided over by Gazipur Metropolitan Jamaat Amir Professor Jamal Uddin, and central and local leaders of Jamaat spoke at the conference.
