Recalling the memories of the Liberation War, the Prime Minister said that when the Pakistani forces launched a brutal attack on the night of 25 March 1971, the then second-in-command of the 8th East Bengal Regiment in Chattogram, Major Ziaur Rahman, built resistance by saying ‘We Revolt’. Later, at 2:15 am on 26 March, he gave the order for armed struggle for independence and declared independence from the Kalurghat radio station on 27 March, which is an inspiring chapter for the armed forces.
The Prime Minister said that defence preparedness is being strengthened to increase capabilities in drones, artificial intelligence, cyberspace and electronic warfare in keeping with the modern world. At the same time, initiatives have been taken to establish a defence industry in the country and increase the integrated capabilities of the army, navy and air force.
Highlighting steps taken for the welfare of soldiers, he said that salaries and allowances of the armed forces have been increased by 100 to 138 percent under the national pay scale, and the implementation of ‘One Rank One Pension’ is underway. The Prime Minister reiterated that protecting national interests, sovereignty and dignity will be the main commitment of tomorrow's Bangladesh.
