The Home Minister said that under the Constitution, it is the government's constitutional duty to ensure that people of all religions can celebrate their respective religious festivals freely and safely. He said strict surveillance instructions have been given so that no unpleasant incident occurs anywhere in the country, including Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and the three hill districts, centering on Prabarana Purnima to be held on October 25 and the flying of lanterns in the evening. Besides, as soon as the list of Buddhist monasteries is received, it will be sent to the local administration and law enforcement agencies for taking effective measures.
Regarding the security of the ongoing Durga Puja, he mentioned that round-the-clock surveillance is being maintained from the police monitoring cell through body-worn cameras, CCTV and app-based technology. He warned that any attempt to destroy communal harmony by spreading rumors on social media or portraying personal disputes as religious attacks will be firmly resisted, and no troublemaker will be spared.
At the exchange meeting, Buddhist religious representatives including Principal of the International Buddhist Monastery Dharmamitra Mahathero, Principal of Bodhijñan Bhabna Kendra Ashin Jin Rakkhita Mahathero, Principal of Uttara Mahavihara Muditapal Bhikkhu, and Deputy Principal of Dharmarajika Mahavihara Swarupananda Bhikkhu were present.
