The report says that opposition political parties, including BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and NCP, can now hold rallies, carry out organisational activities and criticise the government without obstruction. Describing the 2026 election as more peaceful and less violent than in the past, it says that political conflict has decreased since then; the isolated incidents currently occurring are mainly centred on local dominance and business disputes. In addition, most individuals arrested in political cases during the previous government have been released, and according to police information, more than 21,000 false and politically motivated cases have been withdrawn.
The report further notes that Awami League remains banned due to public outrage over human rights violations while in power and the July uprising. However, grassroots leaders and activists who were not directly involved in repression can live in their areas, although they risk social hostility and harassment in open political activities. The report also highlights that judicial proceedings are ongoing in court against leaders and activists involved in the July uprising and crimes.
