Order to start construction of septic tanks and soak wells by November 5
Instructions have been issued to start construction work of septic tanks and soak wells in buildings by November 15 to free the lakes in areas under the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) from pollution and ensure environmentally sound management. Otherwise, mobile courts will be operated under the Building Construction Act and Rules. The decision was taken at a meeting of RAJUK's technical committee held at the Ministry of Housing and Public Works on Wednesday (October 28).

At this meeting held in the presence of State Minister for Housing and Public Works Ahmmad Sohail Manzur, it was decided that the list of buildings that received final notices for the construction of septic tanks, soak wells and STPs—1,269 buildings—will be given to the respective societies. In addition, the structural design of these constructions must be approved by RAJUK, and RAJUK must dispose of it within three days of receiving the application. RAJUK Chairman, senior officials of Dhaka North City Corporation and representatives of the Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara and Niketan societies were present at the meeting.
