Dealership to be cancelled for irregularities in fertilizer distribution: Agriculture Minister
Agriculture and Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid has warned that dealerships will be cancelled if any irregularity in fertilizer management or harassment of farmers is proven. At the same time, he said departmental action will be taken against any official involved in the process. The minister said these things at a virtual exchange meeting with deputy commissioners and agriculture officials on fertilizer supply in the upcoming Rabi season at the Secretariat on Monday.

The agriculture minister instructed every dealer’s shop to display the price list and stock information to ensure fertilizer sales at government-fixed prices. To prevent the creation of artificial crises, overcharging, hoarding and illegal fertilizer smuggling across the border, he urged the conduct of mobile courts and drives. The minister said that this time more fertilizer has been supplied than demand. Nevertheless, strict monitoring must be maintained so that fertilizer from the country is not smuggled out under any circumstances.

Directing the use of farmer cards to ensure that fertilizer reaches genuine farmers fairly, the minister said that if there is any irregularity over fertilizer in any district, the concerned deputy commissioner will have to be accountable. He also instructed caution to ensure that urea fertilizer is not used as raw material in textile and dyeing factories.
