He made this remark in response to a question about Bangladesh possibly joining the defence pact at the regular press briefing of India's Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi on Friday (August 21). Indian media ANI reported this information.
Randhir Jaiswal said, ‘We are closely monitoring the developments in West Asia. At this moment, this is all I have to say. However, speaking of this specific pact, the impact it may have on India's national security, regional peace and stability is being examined with great seriousness.’
He stressed, ‘India is fully committed to protecting its national interests, and all necessary measures in this regard will be taken.’
