Earlier, another advisor of the interim government, M. Sakhawat Hossain, had indicated that decisions of the Dr. Yunus government were made outside the advisory council. In an interview with a media outlet last February, he said that most of the government's major decisions were made outside the advisory council.
Regarding the interim government's agreement with the United States, former Foreign Advisor Touhid Hossain said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was not aware of this agreement. His ministry had no involvement in it. Behind the agreement were the Security Advisor and the Commerce Advisor. He said, there might have been a reason, we were compelled to sign the agreement, and if there was no obligation, it would have been appropriate to leave it to the elected government.
Touhid Hossain said, the 'Deep State' is actively involved in every incident in the world. Nothing happens in the world without the 'Deep State'. They manipulate there.
Saying that a large part of his expectations were not fulfilled, the former diplomat said, on one occasion I had to go to the Kitchen Cabinet at the state guest house Jamuna. Later I learned, they sit there every Tuesday. Some people make decisions, such talk could be heard. It also reached my ears. Apart from this, I did not know, and there was a group that used to sit and make decisions.
The government had sent a letter to India asking for the return of ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. India did not respond to this. Regarding this, the former foreign advisor said, did we ask for a reply? We did not expect much of a reply. I think, it is not that Awami League has left or is leaving politics. Human memory is not very long. I believe Awami League will return to politics and I assume they will participate in the next election.
He is not willing to make any assessment of the BNP government right now. The former foreign advisor thinks that managing the United States, India, and China is a major challenge for the government. He said, I will not be considered a person of any side, and no one will be my enemy. This is the big challenge; it was before, and it is still the same.
