Birthright citizenship upheld, Trump loses in Supreme Court
The US Supreme Court has ruled against President Donald Trump's executive order aimed at abolishing birthright citizenship in the United States. The court upheld the lower court's decision, keeping the order blocked. On Tuesday (June 30), the US Supreme Court justices issued this order. The court's decision is seen as a major legal setback for the Trump administration.

Trump's executive order stated that if neither parent of a child is a US citizen or a lawful permanent resident, the child born in the United States would not receive birthright citizenship.

Chief Justice John Roberts said in the ruling that children born to parents living illegally or temporarily in the United States are also entitled to birthright US citizenship under the Constitution.

As a result of this court ruling, Trump's initiative to limit birthright citizenship is not currently in effect, and the policy of birthright citizenship recognized by the US Constitution remains intact.
