1,127 examinees absent in Sylhet board on first day of HSC

The information was provided by the Controller of Examinations of the Sylhet Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Professor Bilkis Yasmin, after the exam held from 10 am to 1 pm on Thursday (July 2).

She informed that a total of 57,176 examinees were scheduled to take the Bengali first paper exam at 96 centers in Sylhet division. Of these, 56,049 examinees participated in the exam, and 1,127 examinees were absent. The absentee rate is 1.97 percent.

District-wise statistics show that in Sylhet district, 373 out of 25,018 examinees were absent; in Habiganj, 239 out of 10,180; in Moulvibazar, 254 out of 11,328; and in Sunamganj, 261 out of 10,650 examinees were absent.

Under the Sylhet Education Board, the total number of examinees this year is 72,745. Among them, 29,217 are male students and 43,528 are female students. Compared to last year, the number of examinees has increased by 3,573.

Exam Controller Bilkis Yasmin said that the first day's exam was completed in a fair, peaceful, and cheating-free environment.

Meanwhile, to maintain law and order during the exam, the law enforcement agencies have prohibited public gatherings, processions, loud noises, use of microphones, carrying weapons and explosives, and entry of unauthorized persons within 200 yards of the exam centers. This restriction will remain in effect until August 8.
