She made this comment while talking to journalists after an event organized on the occasion of National Rural Development Day at Sarail Upazila Parishad in Brahmanbaria on Monday (July 6).
Rumeen Farhana said there is no legal barrier for Sheikh Hasina to return to the country. However, upon returning, she must surrender to the court, apply for bail, and follow the prevailing judicial process according to the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
In response to a question regarding the formation of a possible shadow cabinet by the opposition, she said such systems exist in many democratic countries around the world and it is a recognized part of democratic practice.
She further said that if a shadow cabinet is formed in Bangladesh as well, and they monitor ministry-wise activities, offer constructive criticism of government policies and actions, and present realistic alternative proposals, it will further strengthen the democratic system.
Local BNP leaders, activists, supporters, and people from various walks of life were present at the event.
