Politics is a sacred process of changing people's destiny: Information Minister
Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan said that politics is not just a means of gaining or enjoying power, but a sacred process of changing the fate of ordinary people. He said that alongside the government, social organizations also play an important role in achieving democratic goals.

He said these things as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of a month-long tree plantation program organized on the occasion of the 45th death anniversary of martyred President Ziaur Rahman at Barishal University on Friday (July 10) morning.

Replying to questions from journalists after the event, the Information Minister said that Tarique Rahman's upcoming visit to Barishal after taking over as Prime Minister is important for the southern region. He said that various issues regarding the development of this region will be discussed during this visit.

He further said that the government has already introduced family cards, farmer cards, and special cards for imams and muazzins. He also mentioned that there is widespread interest among the people of the southern region regarding Tarique Rahman's visit to Barishal.

The event, chaired by Barishal University Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Mamun Or Rashid, was attended by ZRF Executive Director Professor Farhad Halim Donar and Barishal City Corporation Administrator Advocate Bilkis Akhter Jahan Shirin as special guests.

Earlier, when the Information and Broadcasting Minister arrived at the university campus at 10:30 am, the Vice-Chancellor and local Chhatra Dal leaders welcomed him with flowers in front of the administrative building. Later, he declared the conclusion of the month-long tree plantation program by planting a sapling on the campus.
