He made this comment in response to a question from journalists at the Chittagong Circuit House on Friday (July 10) afternoon.
In a recent interview with international news agency Reuters, Sheikh Hasina expressed hope of returning to the country by December this year. Reacting to this, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “He once said he would not leave the country. But later he left the country. Now he says he will return, but I think he will not come.”
He further said that everyone must work together to build a beautiful, corruption-free, transparent and humane Bangladesh. He mentioned that this is the nation's expectation.
Earlier on Friday morning, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman visited flood and waterlogging-affected areas in Satkania, Banshkhali of South Chittagong, and Chittagong city. During this time, he distributed relief materials among the affected people. After the visit, he returned to Dhaka in the afternoon.
