Fear of further deterioration of flood situation in Sylhet-Sunamganj
The Flood Forecasting and Warning Center has warned that the flood situation in Sylhet and Sunamganj may worsen in the next 48 hours. At the same time, the organization has expressed concern that the water of the Teesta and Dudhkumar rivers in the northern region of the country may cross the danger level.

The Flood Forecasting and Warning Center provided this information in a briefing held on Monday (July 13) afternoon.

The briefing said that the water of the Teesta and Dudhkumar rivers may flow above the danger level within the next 24 to 48 hours. As a result, there are fears of further deterioration of the flood situation in the affected areas.

In addition, the organization has predicted that the flood situation in Sylhet and Sunamganj may worsen further in the next two days. For this reason, residents of low-lying and riverine areas of the district have been advised to take necessary precautions.

However, the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center has also given some good news for the hilly regions. The organization said that the flood situation in the hilly areas may improve slightly in the next 24 hours.

On the other hand, the Meteorological Department has said that the intensity of rain may decrease slightly from Monday after several days of heavy rainfall in Dhaka and various parts of the country. However, the forecast mentioned the possibility of heavy rainfall again from next Thursday (July 16).
