Commerce Minister announces waiver of booth rent for small entrepreneurs in international fairs
To encourage small entrepreneurs in expanding export trade, Commerce, Industry, Jute and Textile Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Khondkar Abdul Muktadir has announced the waiver of booth rent for participation in international trade fairs.

He made this announcement as the chief guest at the debriefing of the 10th China-South Asia Expo and the 30th China-Kunming Import-Export 2026 fair, organized at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (Big Wave) in Purbachal on Sunday.

The minister said that the contribution of small entrepreneurs in the country's export sector is very important. However, many cannot participate in international fairs due to financial constraints. Considering this reality, booth rent for small entrepreneurs will be waived to increase exports.

He further said that the current government is working to create a business-friendly environment. As part of simplifying business, an initiative has been taken to extend the validity of trade licenses to five years. Additionally, a system will be introduced to obtain trade licenses online from home.

The event, chaired by Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive of Export Promotion Bureau Mohammad Hasan Arif, was also addressed by Commerce Secretary Md. Ataur Rahman Khan, ndc, as special guest.

At that time, President of Bangladesh Multi-Jute Products Manufacturers and Exporters Association Md. Rashedul Karim Munna and Vice President of Footwear and Leather Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association Md. Nasir Khan also spoke.

At the event, the minister listened to various problems, proposals, and experiences of small entrepreneurs regarding participation in the Kunming fair in China and provided necessary opinions on the matter.

At the beginning of the debriefing, guests unveiled the cover of the quarterly newsletter published by the Export Promotion Bureau.
