The State Minister for Youth and Sports said tree plantation is important for maintaining environmental balance and tackling the impact of climate change. The main objective of undertaking tree plantation programs in schools and colleges is to create environmental awareness among students and make educational institutions greener.
He said, ‘Our election manifesto has a target of planting 25 crore trees in the next five years. To make the country and cities greener, everyone must participate in this program.’
Aminul Haque further said a tree not only benefits the environment, but in the future it can provide people with various benefits including fruits, shade and medicine. Therefore, he mentioned the initiative of planting one tree by each student as important.
Addressing the school teachers, he said, in addition to classroom teaching, students must be encouraged to plant trees. If each student plants one tree, a large-scale greening will be possible collectively.
Citing the example of the neem trees at Arafat Maidan, Aminul Haque said just like these trees have been benefiting people for a long time, trees must continue to be planted for future generations. Planting even one tree that brings benefit to people is a great good deed.
