He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the 'Foundational Learning Action Tracker (FLAT)' event organized by UNICEF Bangladesh on Sunday (August 9) at Hotel Sheraton in Banani, Dhaka.

The state minister informed that more emphasis is being given on science, mathematics, design and creativity in primary education. Science toys and various hands-on learning materials will be added to the curriculum. In addition, an initiative is being taken to launch 'Math Lab' in primary schools, where students will learn basic concepts of mathematics including size, shape, multiplication, division, addition and subtraction through various materials.

Emphasizing the need to overcome gaps in foundational learning, he said one of the main goals of primary education is to ensure the basic reading, writing and mathematics skills of every child. If there is a gap in foundational learning, it becomes a major obstacle in later academic life.

The state minister informed that various initiatives, including free school uniforms, have been taken to bring out-of-school children into education and keep them in school. On August 16, the free uniform distribution program will be launched for the first time. He also said initiatives have been taken to identify the limitations of the mid-day meal pilot project and rectify them.

The state minister said primary education projects must be operational and practical, not just philosophy-based. Every project must have a clear implementation framework, monitoring and evaluation system. He said, 'Our philosophy is to deliver proper education to every child, and we are building a strong monitoring system to implement it fully operationally at the field level.'

Among those present at the event were Primary and Mass Education Secretary Jasmin Nahar, UNICEF Bangladesh Representative Rana Flowers, Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Shahina Ferdousi, and senior officials from various organizations.
