Government determined to build skilled youth: State Minister for Youth and Sports
The government is committed to implementing the election manifesto with the aim of making the country's vast youth community skilled and self-reliant. A day-long special workshop titled 'Formulation of Action Plan of the Department of Youth Development for Implementation of Election Manifesto' was held at the National Youth Development Institute in Savar to bring the youth community into the mainstream of national development.

Speaking as the chief guest at the workshop, State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque said the government is determined to build a skilled youth community. Everyone has a responsibility here, and he urged all to discharge their respective duties with honesty. He directed everyone to send their important recommendations from the workshop in writing to the office of the Director General of the Department of Youth Development within the next 7 days. He also said meetings would be held every four months to review the progress of the work.

The State Minister said the training system is being modernized to develop youths in line with the needs of the times. He informed that although training is currently provided in 83 trades, unsuitable trades will be dropped and new projects will be undertaken. As part of this, efforts are underway to expand freelancing, mobile servicing, caregiving and third language training courses up to the upazila level. Besides, the ministry is reviewing the decision to set up modern training centers in every upazila.

Issuing a strong warning over the misuse and corruption of government-provided loans meant to make youths self-reliant, the State Minister said the government's position against corruption is 'zero tolerance'. He urged ensuring that the loan money is in no way used irregularly. He also emphasized on developing the discipline of coming to the office on time.

To ensure proper evaluation and employment of trained youths, work is already underway to create a central database of trainees. Instructions have been given to ensure rigorous monitoring at the field level of every activity conducted through the Department of Youth Development.

Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam was present as the special guest. Senior officials of the ministry and representatives of youth development were present at the workshop, chaired by Director General of the Department of Youth Development Md. Motahar Hossain.
