Colonel (retd.) Oli Ahmad, candidate of the 11-party alliance, congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on being elected president. He gave the reaction to journalists at his residence in Mahakhali DOHS in the capital after the announcement of results on Thursday.
Oli Ahmad said he wished Mirza Fakhrul success and good health as president. He also remarked that their commitment to protecting democracy, independence, sovereignty, citizens’ rights and national interests is identical.

He said that after a long time, a competitive presidential election has created an opportunity to consider alternative leadership and perspectives for an important state post. He expressed hope that as president, Mirza Fakhrul will play a role in protecting democratic values and citizens’ rights.

In the presidential election, Mirza Fakhrul won with 255 votes. Oli Ahmad received 88 votes.
