He made these remarks on Friday (August 21) at a free medical camp and medicine distribution event held at the National Bangla High School ground in Mirpur-2.
Selim Uddin said, people often do not receive proper treatment and diagnostic tests in government hospitals. Again, many cannot afford treatment in private hospitals due to financial constraints. Therefore, healthcare must be ensured as a fundamental right of the people.
He said, if given responsibility, the quality of medical services in Dhaka North City hospitals will be improved, necessary equipment will be ensured, and low-cost treatment arrangements will be made. At the same time, initiatives will be taken to build international-standard hospitals so that people of the country do not have to go abroad for better treatment.
At the event, patients who attended were given free medical services and necessary medicines.
