The deceased Jannat Ara was a resident of Rodpara area under Ward No. 1 of Aziznagar union in the upazila. She was the wife of the late Amiruzzaman.
Local UP member Belal Hossain confirmed the death.
According to family members, Jannat Ara went out for a walk behind her house on Friday morning. At that time, a swarm of hornets suddenly attacked her. She fell to the ground after being stung.
Later, family members rescued her and took her to a doctor. After providing primary treatment there, she was sent home with necessary medicines.
However, her physical condition deteriorated at night. She was then quickly taken to a private hospital in Lohagara. While undergoing treatment there, the doctor on duty declared her dead at around 10 pm.
Dr. Kafil Uddin, a doctor at the emergency department of Lohagara Sound Health Hospital, said hornet stings can cause severe allergic reactions in the body. This can lead to serious complications such as breathing difficulties, low blood pressure, and anaphylaxis. Therefore, if the physical condition deteriorates after a sting, it is urgent to take the patient to the hospital quickly.
