He called upon Muslims to follow the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said that there is no basis for celebrating Mawlid in the Quran and Sunnah. He claimed that neither the Prophet (peace be upon him), nor the Companions, nor the Rightly Guided Caliphs celebrated the birthday in this manner. Therefore, he referred to it as an innovation (bid'ah).
In his speech titled ‘An Explanation Regarding the Ruling on Celebrating Mawlid,’ Sheikh Sudais emphasized not adding any new practices in religious matters. He also urged holding fast to the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the path followed by the Companions.
He also criticized activities such as singing, extravagance, and free mixing of men and women in various events organized on the occasion of Mawlid. According to him, the true way to express love for the Prophet (peace be upon him) is to follow his Sunnah.
Addressing Muslims, Sheikh Sudais urged them to abandon such practices, follow the Sunnah, and fear Allah.
