On Saturday (August 22), spot gold prices rose 2.4 percent to $4,623.94 per ounce. US gold futures also rose at the same rate to $4,680.60.
This week, international gold prices have risen more than 5 percent. According to Bart Melek, head of commodity strategy at TD Securities, if this rally continues, gold prices could reach $4,700 per ounce.
Meanwhile, prices of other precious metals also rose. Silver prices increased by 2.3 percent, platinum by 2.8 percent, and palladium by 0.8 percent.
In the domestic market, the current price of 22-carat gold per vori, including VAT, is 246,110 taka. The price of 21-carat gold is 235,030 taka, 18-carat is 201,846 taka, and traditional-method gold is 164,812 taka per vori.
