Mahdi Amin said necessary additions, deletions and revisions are being made to textbooks for the 2027 academic year before the implementation of the new curriculum in 2028. From next year, new subjects will be added at primary and secondary levels to introduce students to sports, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and fourth industrial revolution-based education.
He said 'Sports and Culture' from the fourth grade and 'Learning with Happiness' and 'Technical Education' from the sixth grade are being added to the curriculum.
Regarding the evaluation of SSC and equivalent examination results, the education adviser said there was previously a tendency to artificially increase GPA-5 to make results look good. This time no grace marks were given and students got their actual results through impartial and transparent evaluation.
Mentioning the creation of a special policy for students who failed or were at risk of dropping out, he said they would be included in Technical Training Centers (TTCs), short-term technical and vocational courses to create employment opportunities. If necessary, financial support will also be provided to help them become entrepreneurs.
Mahdi Amin also informed about the plan to launch 'Employment Exchange' at divisional and district levels to reduce unemployment. Through this, skilled youths will be registered and direct connections will be made with employer institutions. Gradually, this initiative will be expanded to every district of the country.
He also informed about the plan to provide tablets to teachers gradually under the 'One Teacher, One Tab' program to increase teachers' digital skills. Along with this, initiatives will be taken for teacher training, skill development and making the profession more attractive.
Regarding increasing research at the university level, he said joint research initiatives with universities are being taken to solve real problems of industries. There is also a plan to bring back expatriate Bangladeshi researchers and teachers to transform 'brain drain' into 'brain circulation'. Government allocation for research will be increased.
He also said initiatives have been taken for national competitions such as 'Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament' and 'Innovation and Startup Competition' to reduce inequality between rural and urban schools.
Mahdi Amin said the government is committed to building a new Bangladesh by raising a generation equipped with skills, employment, ethics and humanitarian values, not just certificate-oriented education.
