He made these remarks as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized at the Tant Board Institute Auditorium in Narsingdi on Friday (September 4) on the occasion of BNP's 48th founding anniversary.
The minister said Ziaur Rahman initiated the politics of production and development in the country's economy. In addition to opening up the economy, important initiatives were taken during his time for the development of the ready-made garment industry and foreign employment. At present, these sectors are among the main foundations of the country's economy.
He also commented that Ziaur Rahman played a role in establishing the rights of women and children and strengthening Bangladesh's position in the international arena.
Highlighting the political struggle of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, Mueen Khan said she led the anti-autocracy movement on the streets for a long time. After being elected by the people's votes, she served as the country's first woman prime minister and was elected prime minister three times.
He said BNP does not believe in the politics of revenge. The party believes in establishing justice, democracy, and the rights of the people. He urged leaders and activists to present the 48-year history of BNP and the political ideology of Ziaur Rahman to the new generation.
