Former whip ASM Firoze shown arrested in murder and attempted murder cases
The court ordered former Chief Whip of the National Parliament and former lawmaker ASM Firoze to be sent to jail after showing him arrested in two separate cases filed with Jatrabari police station. One of the cases was filed over the murder of Naim Hawladar and the other over an attempt to murder Tareq Tauqid.

On Wednesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Hoque passed the order after the hearing. With this, Firoze was shown arrested in a total of six cases.

The hearing was held in Firoze's presence in court. The state side argued in favor of showing him arrested. On the other hand, when his lawyers applied for medical treatment, the court directed to take necessary measures according to prison rules.

Earlier, on August 23, 2024, Firoze was arrested from the Banani area. The next day, the court granted a three-day remand in the Sohag Mia murder case filed with Bhatara police station. Since then he has been in jail.

According to the case's FIR, on July 19, 2024, Naim Hawladar was shot in front of the North Kutubkhali High School in Jatrabari. Later, he died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

On the same day, Tareq Tauqid was shot while going to rescue Shihab, who was found shot in the Jatrabari area. On March 26, 2025, Tareq filed a case as the complainant with Jatrabari police station.
