At a briefing on Sunday, Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam said that the Prime Minister's official program will begin on 22 September. On that day, he will attend the breakfast hosted by the UN Secretary-General for heads of state and government and the opening proceedings of the General Assembly. In the evening, he is scheduled to attend a reception hosted by the US President.
On 23 September, the Prime Minister will meet representatives of various international charitable and humanitarian organizations. On the same day, he will participate in a high-level meeting on climate action and just transition. The UN's official schedule also includes a high-level event titled ‘Climate Action and the Just Transition’ on 23 September.
On 24 September, the Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver opening remarks at a high-level meeting on addressing the existential threat of sea-level rise. He will then speak in the General Assembly's general debate.
In his general debate speech, he is scheduled to highlight Bangladesh's democratic progress, rule of law and accountability, world peace and security, climate change, sustainable development, economic cooperation, youth and women's empowerment, education and health, the Rohingya crisis, equitable use of technology, and reform of the multilateral system.
In addition, the Prime Minister will participate in two side events hosted by Bangladesh on the Rohingya crisis and on maternal and newborn health and midwifery. On the Rohingya issue, he will highlight international cooperation for rapid repatriation to Myanmar, and at the health event, he will highlight the government's initiatives to protect maternal and child health.
As part of the visit, bilateral meetings are scheduled with the Crown Prince of Kuwait and the Prime Ministers of Croatia, Bhutan, Thailand, Pakistan, and Haiti. These meetings may discuss political and economic relations, trade and investment, development cooperation, the Rohingya crisis, and other issues of mutual interest.
He is also scheduled to meet with the UN Secretary-General, the President of the European Council, the President of the World Bank Group, the UN Special Envoy on Myanmar, and UN officials on refugees and human rights. As part of economic diplomacy, the Prime Minister will also meet top representatives of various business entities, including Wall Street and Meta.
