At a meeting with a high-level delegation of China's Yunnan Province at the Secretariat on Sunday, Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir made these proposals. The delegation was led by Zhao Junmin, Executive Vice Governor of Yunnan.

At the meeting, the commerce minister said that if Chattogram-Myanmar-Kunming road connectivity can be established, the time and cost of transporting goods will decrease, and regional trade among Bangladesh, Myanmar, and southwestern China will become more dynamic.

Describing Yunnan as a promising market for Bangladesh, he called for prompt implementation of bonded warehouse and exhibition facilities there to increase exports of Bangladeshi products. Besides, discussions were held on the prospects of exporting jute, leather, frozen fish, and agricultural products, and importing flowers, fertilizer, and animal feed from Yunnan.

Proposals were also made to establish a joint research center to increase jute productivity in Bangladesh, expand direct cargo air connectivity, and increase cooperation in energy, e-commerce, and technology sectors.

At the meeting, Zhao Junmin, Executive Vice Governor of Yunnan, responded positively to these proposals and expressed interest in further strengthening cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, and connectivity.

The meeting was attended by Commerce Ministry Secretary Md. Ataur Rahman Khan, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen, and relevant officials of both countries.
