On Thursday afternoon (October 8), allegations were raised against several students of the 2024-25 academic year of ragging and harassing several female students of the 2025-26 academic year in room 1035 of the university's Ganatantra Hall.
The victims alleged that they were called out on the pretext of a picnic and verbally abused, questioned about personal matters, and their mobile phones were searched. At one point, when Anika fell ill, she was taken to a private hospital in Pabna city.
Anika said she was asked various uncomfortable questions and at one point lay down because she had difficulty breathing. She said she does not remember what happened afterward. Another student alleged that they had to wait a long time to get permission to take their sick classmate to the hospital.
After the incident, university Proctor Professor Dr. Kamruzzaman Khan, Student Advisor Professor Dr. Rashedul Haque, and other teachers went to the hospital to see Anika.
The proctor said ragging is in no way acceptable. If a complaint is received, it will be investigated and necessary action will be taken. Incidents of ragging have occurred at the university before as well.
