Prime Minister urges all to come forward to protect environment and future generation
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called upon government officials to be proactive beyond their assigned duties and urged countrymen to come forward to protect the environment and build a livable Bangladesh for future generations. He said this at a meeting on reviewing the progress and implementation of activities held in the conference room of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on Thursday.

Expressing concern over Dhaka's air pollution, the Prime Minister said that Dhaka repeatedly topping the list of the world's polluted cities is shameful for the country. He urged the proper implementation of plans to increase rooftop gardens and school gardens and plant 25 crore trees to overcome this situation. Addressing the officials, he said that instead of only performing routine duties, they must play a greater role by utilizing their respective capabilities for the sake of the next generation.

In addition, directives were given to increase afforestation in the Chittagong Hill Tracts region, ensure regular care and monitoring of planted saplings, and for the Ministry of Environment to take coordinated initiatives to make up for the tree plantation shortfall of other ministries.
