Garment factory workers are protesting by blocking the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Gazipur, demanding an increase in wages and allowances. Due to this blockade, which began this morning (Monday, November 2), severe traffic congestion has been created on both sides of the highway. To control the situation, 10 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed alongside the police.
The protesting workers said their demonstration will continue until their demands are met. Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing between the administration and the workers to calm the situation and restore normal traffic. In the meantime, long-distance passengers, transport drivers, and the general public have suffered severe hardship due to the highway blockade.
