Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has blamed Awami League-backed owners and workers for the ongoing unrest in the readymade garment sector. He warned of a strict crackdown if attempts are made to destabilize the country by pursuing a different agenda under the cover of the workers' movement.
The Home Minister said these things to journalists after a meeting with garment industry owners at the Secretariat on Monday (November 2) morning. He said attempts are being made to create this unrest in the country at the signal from across the border.

Seeking cooperation from industrial owners, the Home Minister said closed factories must be reopened through discussions with workers' leaders. Besides, assuring that the minimum wage for workers will be fixed within the stipulated time, he said the government will also hold a meeting with workers' leaders at 3 pm today on this matter.
