Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir has urged Turkish businesspeople to increase investment in Bangladesh's leather, non-leather, readymade garment and shipbuilding sectors. At the same time, he called for removing customs-related barriers and reducing additional tariffs on the entry of Bangladeshi products into the country's market.
On Sunday, at a bilateral meeting with Türkiye's Trade Minister Ömer Bolat in Istanbul, he made this call. At the meeting, the Commerce Minister requested taking advantage of investment opportunities in Bangladesh's promising industrial sectors and sought the Turkish minister's cooperation in removing tariff barriers.

At the meeting, both sides expressed a positive attitude toward expanding bilateral trade and resolving existing obstacles. It may be noted that the Commerce Minister is currently visiting Türkiye to participate in the 42nd Ministerial Meeting of COMCEC.
