Nahid Islam said the investigation and trial of the July murder cases are progressing slowly. This process must be expedited. He also demanded the return of Osman Hadi's killers to the country, as well as bringing former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina back to Bangladesh to execute the court verdict.
Referring to Hasanul Haq Inu, convicted in a case of crimes against humanity, as a key associate of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, he said Inu's 10-year sentence is not enough. They expect a harsher punishment for him through appeal.
Addressing the government, the NCP convener said it is not enough to merely formally observe the anniversary of the July mass uprising. Along with implementing the July Charter and the referendum verdict, necessary reforms of the state structure must be carried out.
He further said the government has not yet announced any program for the second anniversary of the July mass uprising. He expressed hope that the government will announce programs on this matter soon.
