As part of expanding the country's administrative structure, the government has approved the proposal to form three new upazilas and one police station. The decision was taken at the 121st meeting of the National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reorganization (NICAR) held on Wednesday (July 1) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Additionally, approval was given to divide Chattogram's Fatikchhari upazila and form a new upazila named 'Fatikchhari North'. The new upazila will be formed with six unions: Baganbazar, Dantmara, Narayanhat, Bhujpur, Harualchhari, and Suabil.

The proposal to divide Comilla's Muradnagar upazila and form a new upazila named 'Bangra' has also been approved.
