Jamaat-e-Islami bringing 14 amendments to its constitution
After a long seven years, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is set to bring major changes to its party constitution. The party has taken the initiative to introduce about 14 amendments to make the organization more modern, effective, and accountable in the changed political reality.

According to party sources, under the leadership of the current Ameer, this is set to be the biggest amendment to the constitution. The proposed changes include increasing transparency and accountability in financial management, forming an advisory council, and revising various organizational clauses.

According to the proposal, a new sub-clause will be added to Article 68 of the sixth chapter of the constitution to set spending limits for Ameers at the district and metropolitan levels. Additionally, the sources of party funding and financial management issues will be more clearly incorporated into the constitution.

Jamaat's Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar said that the proposed amendments have already been discussed in the party's Shura meeting. According to the prescribed process, the proposals are being presented first to the amendment committee, then to the executive council, and finally for consideration by the Shura council.

He said that the 23rd amendment proposal was presented at the Shura meeting and preliminary decisions were made on several issues. However, discussions are still ongoing on some proposals.

Among the proposed changes is the formation of an advisory council under the central organization. It is being considered to include individuals who are not party members but have contributed in various fields in this council. However, no final decision has been made on this matter yet.

Mia Golam Parwar informed that preliminary discussions have been held among Shura members regarding the formation of the advisory council. Further discussions will be held on this matter in the next Shura meeting. After final approval, the amendments will be published on the party's website.

According to party leaders, the initiative for these amendments has been taken to make the organization's activities more dynamic, transparent, and timely.
