He said this while speaking as the chief guest at an event organized on the occasion of the 80th anniversary and 81st founding anniversary of Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital on Saturday (July 11).
At the beginning of the event, during a question-and-answer session, doctors raised various problems, challenges, and ongoing issues in the health sector before the Prime Minister. In response, Tarique Rahman highlighted various plans and initiatives taken by the government to improve healthcare services.
He said that to reduce pressure on the major hospitals in the capital, the quality and capacity of medical services at district and upazila level hospitals are being increased. At the same time, he urged doctors to focus more on the healthcare of rural people rather than being only city-centric.
The Prime Minister said the government is continuously working to ensure quality and accessible healthcare for all people in the country. To achieve this goal, various programs are being implemented for infrastructural development, increasing manpower, and improving the quality of medical services.
Earlier, on Saturday at 10:15 am, the Prime Minister inaugurated a tree plantation program on the Dhaka Medical College campus. He was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman.
