He made these remarks as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of a workshop to finalize the structure of four new textbooks for primary and secondary levels for the 2027 academic year, held at the auditorium of the International Mother Language Institute in the capital on Sunday (July 12).
The event was chaired by National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) Chairman Professor Mohammad Fakhrul Mawla, and attended by State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj, State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque, Prime Minister's Education Adviser Dr. Mahdi Amin, and senior officials of the Ministry of Education.
The Education Minister said that in past years, textbooks faced widespread criticism for numerous spelling mistakes and irrelevant content in manuscripts. Learning from that experience, the books are now being prepared through group-based intensive reviews involving experts.
He said all past errors will be eliminated to produce 100% accurate textbooks. At the same time, there will be no compromise on the quality of paper and printing.
Dr. Ehsanul Haque Milon further said that the covers and internal illustrations of the new books will be designed in a way that makes them more attractive to students. These images will not only serve as decoration but also play a role in increasing students' interest in learning.
He informed that before finalizing the manuscripts of the four new books, opinions are being sought from relevant experts and stakeholders. The expert team led by the State Minister for Youth and Sports has been asked to submit final opinions on the sports-related chapter within the next five working days. The sub-committee led by the State Minister for Cultural Affairs has also been asked to submit its recommendations within the same timeframe. After that, final approval of the manuscripts will be given.
Highlighting long-term plans, the Education Minister said that after the work on the 2027 academic year's books is completed, the process of creating books for the revised 2028 curriculum will begin. There is a plan to start this process from August 1 next, allowing sufficient time to prepare higher-quality textbooks.
He further said that the Prime Minister herself closely monitors the development of the education sector. As part of implementing her vision, the government is working to create a modern, joyful, and quality education environment for the future generation of the country.
