In his speech, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that Allah Ta'ala has granted humans life and death. By mentioning death before life in the verse, he highlighted human worldly life as a test.
He said that man's stay on earth is temporary. The main purpose of this life is a test, where Allah will see who possesses the best character and the best deeds.
In explaining this verse of Surah Al-Mulk, he also mentioned two attributes of Allah. According to him, Allah is 'Al-Aziz', meaning the Almighty, who is severe towards those who disobey Him. At the same time, He is 'Al-Ghafur', or the Most Forgiving; He forgives and shows mercy to those who obey Him.
The Jamaat Ameer further said that humans were not created aimlessly. Rather, it is man's responsibility to succeed in the test of life through righteous deeds and good character.
At one point in his speech, he quoted a hadith, saying, "The best among people is the one who benefits people the most." According to him, dedicating oneself to human welfare is one of the most important teachings of Islam.
