Government Increases Honorarium and Allowances for Valiant Freedom Fighters and Martyrs' Families
The government has officially raised the monthly honorarium and various financial grants for valiant freedom fighters, families of martyred freedom fighters, and wounded war veterans. The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs recently issued a formal notification detailing the revised financial benefits.

According to the notification, the newly structured allowance will take effect from July 1, 2026. Alongside the standard monthly honorarium, the stipends for festivals, medical expenses, and special grants for Great Victory Day and the Bengali New Year have also witnessed a substantial hike.

Strategic Welfare Initiative

The ministry stated that this upward revision was implemented in accordance with the Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust Act, 2018, and its associated regulations. The primary strategic objective of this initiative is to sustainably ensure the financial security, social dignity, and overall welfare of the nation's war heroes and their dependents.

Families of martyred freedom fighters will receive a comprehensively revised financial package:

  • Monthly Basic Honorarium: BDT 23,000

  • Festival Allowance: BDT 23,000

  • Food Allowance: BDT 5,000

  • Medical Allowance: BDT 2,000

  • Bengali New Year Grant: BDT 2,000

3. Wounded Freedom Fighters

For wounded veterans, the monthly honorarium has been stratified into four distinct classes based on the severity of their physical disability:

  • Class A (96% – 100% disability): BDT 30,000

  • Class B (61% – 95% disability): BDT 28,000

  • Class C (20% – 60% disability): BDT 23,000

  • Class D (1% – 19% disability): BDT 20,000

The official notification, signed by Dr. Md. Asaduzzaman, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, emphasized the government's continuous commitment to executing welfare-driven programs. This latest fiscal adjustment is positioned as a critical step to positively impact the living standards and social standing of the freedom fighters and their families.
