He made this comment while participating in a talk show of a media outlet recently.
Selim Uddin said that not smoking cigarettes is not a prerequisite for joining Chhatra Shibir or Jamaat. However, after becoming involved in the organizational environment, many people quit smoking within a short time.
He said, Chhatra Shibir operates as an educational organization. There are separate organizational syllabuses for different levels from play to master's. Before nominating a student as a companion or member, inquiries are made about their family, social and personal behavior to assess their moral character.
This Jamaat leader further said that Shibir members regularly perform Tahajjud and Fajr prayers in congregation. Alongside, they try to build moral values and discipline through Quran study and literary practice.
Regarding leadership selection, he said that the organization's voters usually choose individuals with high moral standards for leadership. For this reason, he also claimed that there is no place for drugs or intoxicants in Shibir.
