Commotion at Sathia mosque: BNP says MP's allegations against Syed Abdullah are 'false and fabricated'
BNP has claimed that the allegations made by Jamaat-e-Islami Member of Parliament Barrister Nazibur Rahman Momen against the Prime Minister's Special Assistant Syed Abdullah regarding the commotion over leading prayers at a mosque in Sathia, Pabna, are completely false, baseless, and fabricated.

On Monday (July 28) afternoon, leaders of the party made this claim at a press conference organized at the Sathia upazila and municipality BNP office. The written statement was read by Sathia municipality BNP president Abdul Karim.

He said that on that day, Syed Abdullah was in Dhaka. Yet, a propaganda campaign is being run against him in a planned manner to gain political advantage. He claimed that the incident actually occurred with the direct patronage of Jamaat MP Barrister Nazibur Rahman Momen.

Abdul Karim further said that Barrister Nazibur Rahman Momen is going to various mosques in Sathia with the aim of extending political influence. At Aftabnagar mosque, he tried to lead prayers ignoring the mosque committee and the designated imam. At that time, many worshippers naturally objected to his creed. BNP leaders allege that he still tried to forcibly lead prayers.

They also claimed that the allegation of attacking with local weapons inside the mosque is completely false and fabricated.

At the press conference, BNP leaders said that a section is trying to create instability in a planned manner and then blame Syed Abdullah. However, BNP wants to work unitedly with all political parties including Jamaat in the interest of Sathia's development, resolving all misunderstandings and differences.

At that time, Sathia municipality BNP general secretary Sirajul Islam Mallik, former convener Sirajul Islam Bonde, organizing secretary Asif Iqbal Russell, former joint convener of upazila BNP Sardar Rafiqul Islam, Mir Nazmul Bari Nahid, along with leaders and activists from various levels of upazila, union, and affiliated organizations were present.
