On Tuesday (July 28), Ataur Rahman Sarkar, a member of the Shura and Media and Publication Secretary of the Dhaka Metropolitan North Central Majlis, made this claim. According to him, Anannya has been undergoing treatment for a long time under the supervision of various psychiatrists in Bangladesh, including Hyderabad, India.
On the same day, a post on this matter was also published from the verified page of Jamaat's media wing on social media Facebook.
The post claimed that a woman suffering from mental health issues is being socially provoked and that an attack on her residence occurred at the instigation of local BNP leaders and activists. It also alleged that targeted misinformation campaigns are being carried out against her on social media.
Jamaat also attached some documents related to Anannya's treatment with the post. However, the authenticity of these documents could not be independently verified.
Earlier on Tuesday morning, following a long-standing dispute centered around Al-Madrasatush Shari'ah and an associated mosque in the Nilganj area, allegations of assault surfaced against MP Golam Rasul and his daughter Anannya, involving a child student named Ayan and a woman named Reksna. Locals claim that Reksna suffered a head injury in the incident.
After the incident, around 10 am, locals gathered in front of the MP's residence and began protesting. At one point, it was alleged that a section of the agitated crowd attacked the house.
No formal statement from the concerned law enforcement agencies or findings of an investigation into this matter have been published yet.
