He made this call at a meeting with leading journalists from greater Mymensingh working in Dhaka, held at the meeting room of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in the Secretariat today. 

The State Minister said that integrated efforts are essential for infrastructural development, improvement of medical services and solving other civic problems of greater Mymensingh. An application has been submitted to the concerned ministry with a DO letter co-signed by 34 members of Parliament from Mymensingh division to extend the expressway or flyover, which currently extends up to Dhaka airport, up to Bhaluka. It is now awaiting a policy decision and approval of ECNEC. Besides, preliminary discussions are underway on introducing high-speed train communication with Mymensingh and modernizing Mymensingh railway station.
He urged journalists to play an important role in ensuring patient services in hospitals and preventing irregularities.

He mentioned that irregularities and corruption are not limited to the financial sector only; service-oriented matters also need to be brought under the purview of corruption and highlighted through writing. He also said that a proposal to construct one standard press club in each district of Bangladesh with modern facilities and community centre-based arrangement is under consideration of the government.
At the beginning of the discussion, the journalists present introduced themselves and later took part in discussions on the overall development, existing problems and future prospects of greater Mymensingh.

At this time, Erfanul Haque Nahid, Masudul Haque, Rafiq Muhammad, Anisur Rahman Khan, Ubaydullah Badal, Hamidul Haque Manik, Shafiul Alam Dolon, Masud Karim, Md. Golam Kibria, Mahmudul Hasan and Baharam Khan, among other journalist leaders, spoke.
