1.2% error in Family Cards, no political consideration in card distribution: Amir Khosru
Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that only 1.2 percent error occurred in the pilot project of Family Card distribution. Noting that this error rate is very negligible in Bangladesh's context, he said the pilot project has been successfully implemented. No political consideration or partisan bias was exercised in Family Card distribution, nor will it be in the future.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the ‘Post-Flood Recovery and Rehabilitation Assistance’ project at Chattogram Circuit House at 10:30 am on Sunday (August 30).

Amir Khosru said that a partnership is being built among the government, private sector and NGOs in post-flood rehabilitation. This initiative is not limited to rehabilitation, rather it is also creating the opportunity to build a new economic model through joint partnership.

He said the government provides emergency assistance initially. Then NGOs and the private sector are being involved in the development of educational institutions, assistance to persons with disabilities and other rehabilitation activities. Rehabilitation activities are being carried forward by combining the capacity of the private sector and NGOs with government resources.

The Finance and Planning Minister said it is difficult for the government alone to properly distribute all kinds of assistance. This creates opportunities for corruption and waste. However, if the private sector and NGOs are involved in the distribution system, efficiency increases and waste and corruption can be reduced.
