The Foreign Exchange Policy Department of Bangladesh Bank issued a circular on Sunday regarding this. As a result of the new decision, an adult traveler will get the opportunity to use an additional 6,000 dollars per year.
However, the entire approved amount of 18,000 dollars cannot be taken in cash. A person can take a maximum of 5,000 dollars in cash notes. This limit for cash dollars has been kept unchanged.
For children under 12 years of age, there will be an opportunity to take foreign currency equivalent to 50 percent of the limit allowed for adults. As a result, their annual travel quota limit will be a maximum of 9,000 dollars.
Bangladesh Bank has said that the limit has been increased to ease the changing needs of international travel and the actual travel-related demand for foreign currency. However, no changes have been made to other rules for granting foreign currency outside the travel quota.
