At the event, the Labour Minister said the grants given for workers of Dhaka, Gazipur, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Tangail and Narayanganj are the largest during the current government's tenure. He noted that, on the instructions of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government is sincere about workers' welfare. The current government is realising the money and delivering it directly to the workers from large organisations that previously did not pay their dividend arrears to the Workers Welfare Foundation. He said the government will also take measures so that meritorious children of workers' families are not deprived of higher education due to financial hardship.
Emphasising harmonious owner-worker relations, the Minister said that if there are irregularities in factories, they should be reported to labour inspectors in advance instead of protesting on the streets, so that the government can take action. If production increases, workers' wages can also be increased through discussion. Among others, Chief Inspector of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments Md. Farhad Siddique and Director General of the Department of Labour Md. Abdus Samad Al Azad were present at the event.
